| with 1940s modifications was all the rage in the latter part of that decade. Your hair should be shoulder length for this style. Choose where you would like your part (most women parted their hair on the side), and brush it smooth from the crown down. Use either a curling iron (1-1/2") or medium-sized hot rollers. Starting in the back, treating it as one large section, divide the hair to fit the size of hot roller or curling iron, spray with gel and comb smooth, wrap section around the roller, going under, keeping a small amount of tension as you wind towards the scalp. The roller, when secured, should lay against the head horizontally. Working around the back of the head, repeat until you have run out of hair. Four or five rollers is about all you'll need to complete this section. The sides and front are also set under, but a slight angle towards the face. When placed correctly, the front of the roller should be higher than the back. The crown area is not set. Allow the hot rollers to cool and remove. Brush all the hair under, trying not to lift as you go. Keep hair close to the scalp and after hair is placed, spray with light-hold hair spray. Tip: If you are going to wear this style with a hat or turban, pin the sides down with bobby pins for control. Silk flowers can be hot glued to a barrette for a dressy look. |
